Trustees
Theological education is about relationships. Relationship is what makes the church and faith communities possible. The quality of our relationships shapes the integrity of our work. The people listed in this page: BTI Board of Trustees, BTI Staff and Program Coordinators, and Colloquia and Committee Chairs are the heart of what makes the BTI work - as are all other staff, students and instructors in the member schools.
In his talk, "What the Heck is the Use of Theology?" delivered for the BTI in conjunction with Episcopal Divinity School (15 March 2002), Archbishop Desmond Tutu ended his stirring remarks by sharing his thoughts from work with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, saying:
"We thrilled as we heard how magnanimous, how generous people could be - those who by rights should have been bitter and resentful, lusting for revenge and retribution, instead offering forgiveness to those who had inflicted such vicious and unnecessary suffering."
This is the stuff of community. These words are particularly poignant in light of the global context in which we find ourselves.
